As you may know from previous blog entries, Master and I live in a small-ish city (city/ town?). I like the fact that it's not overly huge and that a lot of the problems that you get in a larger urban area just don't seem to be as much of an issue most of the time. Once in a while, though, we love going to the big city. For us, that means about an hour and a half drive to get there which really isn't that major. It's been a while since we've gone to the city for anything fun (Master was there for work in the summer) and so we decided to make the trek last Friday.
I had the day off, Master had the day off and the kidlets were in school so we didn't have to worry about them either. That's the great thing about the kidlets being older: we don't need to arrange sitters or any of that stuff; we can just pick up and go whenever we feel like it. So, we woke up, got our asses in gear and headed out shortly after the kidlets were out the door for the day.
We had a few errands to run while we were there. Master has a formal work thing-y coming up in a few weeks and he wanted to get me something formal to wear since I'm going with him. I have a bunch of nice dresses but they're all cocktail length and aren't likely formal enough for the event we are going to. We also wanted to hit up Costco and do some serious grocery shopping. We decided to throw in dinner and a movie as well, just for good measure.
Finding a dress was pretty damn easy. I found a sexy one that Master approves of at the first dress shop we went to. It looks a lot like some of the gowns I've been ogling online. I swear, it makes my ass look really, really good. I want to try and figure out how I can get away with wearing it all the time. Its. That. Good. And it was the second dress I tried on, too.
Once that was out of the way, we hit up a local mall. Where we live HAS a mall, it's just a very, very small one and half the stores are closed. Oh. I guess there is a second one at the other end of town but again, small and it only has half a dozen stores in it. Honestly. So, for me, being able to wander around a large shopping center is a real treat and Master doesn't mind window shopping which is really wonderful.
After we had checked out all the stuff we wanted to, we hit up Costco and spent about an hour and a half to two hours stocking up on food. We even got a new exercise mat so that my elliptical machine doesn't go on walkabout every time I use it. That's a truly wonderful thing. Dinner followed and then we went to the movies.
We decided to go and see the second Fifty Shades of Grey movie. It was.... interesting. I have my own views on FSOG and whether it has helped/hurt the BDSM community and as they are a bit lengthy, they are best aired in another post. But this movie was lovely if only because of Jamie Dornan's bum. Everything else just furthered the bum (watch his bum run to comfort Anna! Watch his bum as he exercises! Bum, bum, bum).
The ride home was interesting because apparently, sometime during the movie, yet ANOTHER winter snowstorm decided to move into the area. It's been a bad winter for snow here. Luckily, though, we got home safe and sound. It was a really fun evening and I have a great dress to boot. Truly a win-win situation.
