Today was shaping up to be slightly on the crappy side. I had my delivery at work today which meant my day started at 7:30 instead of 9am like it often does. It also meant I had 8 hours of heavy lifting, running around and endless circling around the store to look forward to. That part was very true to form. If anything, it was even worse since we were down a person to help with and that meant that there was a lot more lifting involved.
To give you an idea, when it is order day, I often move 600-900lbs of food and other items. If it's a big order, it could easily be much more than that. The day also includes serving customers, answering questions and all the other fun stuff that a day in retail consists of. It ends up (for me) with an aching back, tired arms, and sore legs. Its part of the reason why I don't go to the gym on delivery day (the other is that I don't want to).
I am also trying to lose weight and am trying to watch what I eat. I ended up having a larger lunch than normal (complete with a second smoothie) and was looking forward to a "delicious" supper of soup. I got home and found that the soup I wanted to have was not in the cupboard. Yay me. I resigned myself to having a less appealing type of soup.
Master and I were texting. He was off work today but had to stay where he was and couldn't come home. We've been really missing each other lately and today was no exception. This also contributed to why I was pretty sure my day would be a crappy one. I made a crazy suggestion: a mini road trip to meet him for supper, and he agreed.
It would only be for a couple of hours and it wasn't anything fancy. We each drove about half way and ended up in a little tiny town that we have driven through countless times. It was so much fun meeting up and we wondered out loud why we hadn't done this before now. In fact, we are planning a repeat next weekend only this time the kidlets will be coming along.
We are planning to make a day of it and have fun exploring the city a bit and having a nice meal together. He misses the kidlets and hasn't seen them all summer so is happy that we can all get together. Eldest kidlet is excited about maybe doing some back to school shopping and youngest will likely be as well although she is still away.
All in all, today was much less crappy than I thought it would be.
