Passing the Time

Master headed back to work on Saturday and this time he won't be home for over two weeks. So, what's a slave to do when the Master is away? In this case, I'm lucky to be working as much as I am since it will help both pass the time and pay the bills. As of yesterday, I have one of the kidlets back with me so that will help keep me busy. My other one is still away at camp and will be away for another two weeks or so.

So, if I don't want to go stir crazy, I need to find things to occupy my time. Today I went out kayaking. I am lucky in that the area where we live has some fantastic waterways that are great to explore. I also have friends that Master approves of and as long as I let him know what I am doing and am with people he approves of, he doesn't mind me getting out and about.

Today was super windy and it ended up being very choppy out on the water. I had waves coming and hitting my kayak and ended up with water spilling inside. That wasn't a huge deal, not much came in, but it did make me think that if I want to be able to go paddling in rough water or when the water is cold that it may be a good idea to get a spray skirt. I guess that it will be a good thing to start saving the pennies.

I love exercise that doesn't feel like exercise and this was as close to a workout as I wanted to come. We paddled into the wind and then cut across the river to a small island. We ended up coming ashore on a small, rocky island and spent some time walking around. There were some cool plants and a tree that had an innuksuk near it. There were some good photos to be had there and then after we piled back in and headed back to where we came from.

We ended up needing to hop out and climb over a little bit of another island. It was only about three or four steps and then we got back in and continued on our way. It was good that we didn't try and paddle around this other island since the wind was so high that we would have been out there for hours. As it was, we were out for about two hours which was plenty long enough paddling for me.

Now its time to relax and wait for the chance to talk to Master on the phone. Then its back to work tomorrow.
