So awhile ago, I wrote about changing habits and trying to get in shape again. I started out by slowly starting to change my diet. I've been using a tracker to record my food intake and my exercise levels. Hopefully this will help me stay on top of what is going into my body and what is (hopefully) being sweated out. I'm working to make sure that I am not taking in more calories than I am getting rid of but its hard.
One thing I have been incorporating into my routine as often as possible is yoga. Its something that I have been doing on and off for years and I really love it. I really love a lot of things about yoga. I like that you aren't really in competition with anyone and that you can do it slowly. I also like the fact that it makes me more flexible. I was a dancer for years (ballet) and I used to be much more flexible. Not so much these days but I hope to get back to where I was.
I've also been trying to strengthen my back and my core so I've been doing a lot of plank pose and locust pose in order to strengthen muscles that need a little work. Today I incorporated bow pose
Another thing I love is the meditation time at the end. I try and make sure that I spend at least 5 minutes if not longer at the end relaxing in Corpse pose and simply breathing. It helps me get rid of stress. Lately, I have been incorporating some guided thinking into my meditation and relaxation. I try and identify the things that are causing me grief or stress in my life and work through them in a positive way. So far, Master hasn't had any suggestions about things he would like me to mull over but I am sure that will change eventually.
I am trying to become more active as well. I have started playing Pokemon Go (yah, yah, laugh) and am having a lot of fun going for walks. I am planning to bike to work but my ass is so sore today after I made a trial ride that I may need to rethink this plan. I need to invest in a gel seat I think just so that I can pedal in comfort and not end up aching for days afterwards.
So far I haven't seen much of a change in the scale or the inches but I'm only getting started.
