What my Sunday was Supposed to Be Like

Today is my day "off" from my retail job. Unlike in weeks past, this week I didn't manage to get two days off back to back. Typically, I work Tuesday through Saturday and can use Sunday and Monday to finish household chores, get some extra work done on any freelance writing jobs that are outstanding, and also have some time to relax and enjoy the day with Master.

Often, to try and make that more feasible, I do some housework on Sunday and do any writing that can wait for 24 hours on Monday when he has gone back to work, the kids are at school and I can write without being distracted by umpteen million household chores. But on weeks where I don't have those two days off together, I have had to cram everything into one day. This weekend is a prime example of that.

So here is what my Sunday ACTUALLY looked like:

  • I prepped the turkey we are having for supper and put it in the oven. Its a big'un so it went in early this afternoon. Master likes us to have a big, home-cooked dinner once a week. The kidlets have so many activities that most of the time we don't eat dinner together as a family.

  • I started churning through load after load of laundry. Two teenagers and two adults in a house make for a ton of dirty clothes. I normally don't have to do any during the week which is nice but it does mean that I end up with a mountain of it on Sunday.

  • This week we opted to give all of the animals pedicures. This means a grand total of sixteen paws and a few assorted extra nails. Since none of them really LIKE having their nails cut its always a bit of an adventure but it got finished.

  • Playing catch up with a few different writing assignments. Some are fun and fast. Others are complicated and a little confusing. I'm hoping to have the majority of it edited and sent off by tonight but I'm not sure if that's feasible.

  • Cleaning the house. Luckily the kidlets are back from their weekend activities so they can help but there is stuff I need to do and its time consuming.

Of course, Master and I have had our quality time too, so that hasn't been overlooked. He felt that my attitude needed some correction earlier which involved using our riding crop on my ass. My transgression was fairly minor but its been a while since any maintenance discipline has taken place so a bit more correction was needed than might have otherwise been warranted.

Finally, I'm getting some writing done. More about that later but to sum it up in a nutshell, I've started working freelance again to bring in a little extra income and to satisfy my personal need to write. Its been good and picking up clients hasn't been difficult but it HAS meant that the blog has suffered a bit.

Here's hoping that soon it will be easier to balance everything and I can add regular blogging back into my routine again.
