A Nice, Relaxing Sunday

Today was a wonderful day. Master and I were able to lounge in bed until about 9 am which is really lovely because its the first time we have been able to do that in a while. We have a loud little dog who can really let us know when she wants out of her crate and usually she starts calling to us around 7 am. I don't know if she stayed up later the night before and was still sleeping or what but she was pretty quiet this morning.

We also woke up to the smell of fresh bread which is always glorious. I have a bread machine with a timer and had set it so that it finished baking around 9 am. I had a baking goal in mind for today and in order to meet my goal, there had to be some baking action taking place before we got up.

I've been planning to bake on Sundays so that we have fresh stuff to eat and pack in lunches all week long. I also want to start making bread instead of buying it. So, because Master and the kidlets seem to manage to inhale an astonishing amount of food, I knew it would take some serious effort on my part.

I managed to get two loaves of bread machine white bread made, four loaves of sourdough and somewhere in the neighbourhood of 12 dozen chocolate chip cookies done. I had also wanted to make muffins and some cinnamon buns but alas, my planning was faulty and I ran out of eggs. Its been a bit nuts around here today so I'm planning on changing how I approach this whole mass baking thing.

I'm hoping the bread lasts two weeks so that I can bake bread one weekend and snacks the next. It should mean that I'm less frazzled and have more time to just relax.

I also got my home office organized and the house tidied up. Its really lovely to sit here at the end of the day, look around and see a clean house. I know Master appreciates the effort and I feel much less stressed when things are tidy and put away.
