One thing that I have been trying to do while Master is away is get the household more organized in general. Domestic servitude isn't something that I excel at and I want to correct that. I know that Master is happy with the way things are but that he wouldn't be averse to there being more organization in the house in general.
I am trying to budget my money better so that there is more cash when we want to have fun and that the bills are getting paid on time. I don't make a massive amount of money at my job so I don't have a lot to work with but I am getting better. One aspect of that has been meal planning.
Food is expensive. Healthy food is even more expensive. After I pay the bills that need to be paid I don't have a lot left over for food or for unexpected expenses. So, I have decided to start meal planning so that I can take advantage of sales and shop once a week. Right now, when I am the one making the decisions, that's not so hard. When Master comes home, he is on board with the idea of meal planning. It just means that instead of him picking what we eat each day and then buying what we need if we don't have it on hand, that we plan a week at a time and then shop for what we need.
I write down the meals I will be making in my bullet journal after scanning flyers to see what is on sale. Sometimes sales will mean that food bleeds over into other weeks (such was the case this week when I got a good deal on fish sticks and bought enough for three meals' worth). That's fine too, it all averages out in the end.
This is the third week that I have been planning and it's been going well. Master has been checking in with me to see how stuff is shaping up and has said he is very pleased with what I have been doing. In the end, since I am doing this to make him happy, I guess that it's a success on all counts!
