This past weekend we celebrated Easter. We aren't a religious family so basically it is used as a reason to buy the kidlets chocolate and to have a nice meal with family. Because Master is away, it was shaping up to be a very quiet weekend. My closest relatives are about three hours away and Master's family are about six hours away. Last year his son came for Easter but that didn't end up happening this year.
I work retail and so does my eldest kidlet. I had the weekend off because I had literally worked every single stat holiday weekend since Thanksgiving so my boss gave me Saturday off. My eldest kidlet, however, ended up working and I worked Monday so going to visit family wasn't really an option either. That was okay. I'm not always the most comfortable when I visit especially when Master isn't with me.
Although I hadn't initially planned to, I ended up inviting my parents up for a visit. I'm the only one of their kids who is close enough for that to happen. My eldest brother lives in Italy and the brother who is closest in age lives in Seattle so that just really leaves me. I know that my parents love to see their grandkids on holidays like Easter so I asked them to come for a visit. That way we could also discuss the move.
They got a hotel room which was nice and the kidlets got to go swimming. Then, they came back to the house and we had a good meal. I was working the next day so they headed back home. All in all the visit was pretty low stress and they brought chocolate for everyone so that was nice.
All in all, it was one of the best visits we have had in a while. There was no arguing about issues that we feel strongly about. The consumption of alcohol was also fairly low for everyone which again made it so that everything was good.
Hopefully more visits will be like that one.
