For B and I, preparing food and enjoying it together is an important part of our life. While I'm not sure that we could be considered "foodies" we do like yummy things and so a significant amount of thought goes into menu planning. When I'm not working until 9pm, I really love getting creative in the kitchen and B enjoys everything that comes out of that creativity.
B tends to choose what meat we will be eating for supper. Its either decided the night before or the morning of. Once that's picked, I usually figure out what I'm making to go along with it and run those choices by Master for his approval. Sometimes if I have a craving for something I'll request that we have that but if he isn't in the mood, it gets to wait for another day.
Other than B sitting at the table first and being able to eat first our meals are pretty relaxed. I'm allowed to sit at the table although when we have been alone, I have sat on the floor and been fed from Master's hand. That was fun but its definitely not practical or even possible when the kidlets are home.
Last night's dinner was really yummy. I had suggested flank steak the night before and Master was good with that. I always marinate it in a mixture of stuff that we have on hand. Last night it was Dijon mustard, pureed garlic, blue cheese crumbles, olive oil, ground pepper and fresh minced onion. TOTALLY yummy. B found lobster claws at the grocery store so it turned into surf and turf. I heated up the claw meat with white wine and garlic butter. We paired it with mushrooms in white wine cream sauce and boiled potatoes. Yum yum yum.
We've already got the Christmas menu planned out. My parents are coming up and we're going to be having roast goose, sweet potato, regular potato, carrot and turnip mash and some bread. My mother is bringing cranberry sauce with her and dessert as well. I'm also doing a cheese plate and pate and crackers.
B and I love working together in the kitchen. Yes, he's the Master but he knows that if he voluntarily helps with things like peeling potatoes or grilling the meat on the BBQ that its going to get on the table a lot faster and that's what matters in the end. As always though, its his choice to volunteer or not and that's what keeps everything firmly within the bounds of our Master/slave dynamic.
